Want whiter teeth without the hassle? 5 reasons dental veneers may be the answer

Want whiter teeth but have dental sensitivity? Or do you have a few minor gaps in your smile that you want rid of? We at Studental can help both of these extremely common issues with one solution. While cosmetic dentistry is obviously designed to help improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile, there are some instances wherein it can also improve other areas of your dental health. One such example is porcelain veneers.

dental-veneers-oxfordWhen you come to our NHS dentist in Oxford, our team will assess the condition of your teeth and discuss with you your suitability for porcelain veneers. These slim, porcelain covers can instantly enhance your smile, making it more symmetrical and whiter immediately!

Aside from giving you a whiter smile, what are the other benefits of using veneers to create a healthier and straighter smile? Read on to find out!

No discomfort

Many dental patients assume that if a treatment offers a fantastic outcome, it must be extremely uncomfortable.

With veneers, this is not the case; during the fitting process, our NHS dentist in Oxford will simply attach them to the front of your teeth using dental cement. No drills, no injections, and no associated discomfort. Just whiter, straighter teeth in one trip to the dentist!

No more sensitivity!

Dental sensitivity is often the reason that dental patients refuse to undertake chemical whitenings. As sensitivity is usually caused by microscopic holes in the enamel creating a path to the tooth’s nerve, this is an understandable decision to make!

However, when our NHS dentist in Oxford attaches your new porcelain veneers to the front of your teeth, these microscopic holes are filled, thus stopping any external stimuli from hitting the nerve and causing pain.

As you can also ask our dentists about having your veneers made up to 16 shades lighter than your natural teeth, you may never need to have your teeth whitened again!

Non-invasive

Compared to many cosmetic dental procedures, such as dental implants, veneers are virtually non-invasive.

As our team will examine the size and shape of your teeth prior to designing your custom-fitted veneers; there will be no X-rays or other difficult tests for you to undertake and the fitting is exceedingly straightforward. Fitted like a false nail, the veneers are simply placed over the front of your teeth and are fixed in place using a strong but clear dental cement.

Long-lasting

Another benefit of veneers over traditional whitening is their longevity.

Properly maintained through correct oral hygiene, regular dental visits and exclusion of lifestyle choices like smoking and excess alcohol consumption, your new set of dental veneers can last upwards of 15 years! For their price, that is an exceptionally long time for a stain-resistant, whiter and straighter smile!

No specialised aftercare

Worried that there is going to be a catch in the aftercare? There is no need to worry!

Veneers do not require any specialised aftercare to keep them looking amazing; just maintain good oral hygiene and dental visits, and you will be fine!

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We would like to inform you that due to the COVID-19 outbreak we are currently unable to work as normal following the latest government guidelines.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly but we feel it is our responsibility to protect you, our valued patients, our team and our families. We have taken the difficult decision to cancel all routine exams, treatments and hygiene appointments.

Please do not arrive at the practice unannounced.

We will be maintaining a telephone service for advice and booking emergency appointments. Dental emergencies include:

  • Severe pain for over 48 hours
  • Facial Swelling
  • Trauma or uncontrolled bleeding

We understand this is inconvenient and it may mean the treatment timelines are extended. We will be able to reconvene normal service once it is safe to do so. If your appointment needs to be postponed, one of the team will be in touch.

Thank you for all your support during these uncertain times.

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
