It’s not easy to get to see an NHS dentist in Oxford these days, as demand on the service is high. So, you’ll be pleased to hear that here at Studental, we are registering new NHS patients as we speak. You don’t need to be a student either: anyone who qualifies for NHS treatment can sign on with us.
Whether you need a check-up or cleaning with our hygienist, treatment for gum disease or an infection, a replacement tooth, or teeth straightening work, we can help. Not all treatments are eligible for NHS funding, but our NHS dentist in Oxford will let you know when discussing your course of care whether it is covered by the NHS or not.
NHS dentist in Oxford: free or paid for?
Because we don’t pay when we go to see our GP, sometimes there is confusion about whether we pay to see the NHS dentist in Oxford. There are certain categories of patients who don’t pay for their treatment. These include the under 18s, young people in full-time education, pregnant women and people on benefits or a low income.
If you don’t fall within these categories, you will most likely have to pay for your treatment. However, you can still be an NHS patient. Your treatment will be subsidised by the NHS, and you will receive a whole range of dental care at a very low cost.
For example: check-ups, fillings, dentures and bridges all fall under the NHS umbrella. You will pay more depending on the complexity of the treatment. It is divided into 3 bands.
Band 1: £21.60
This includes examinations, x-rays, preventive dentistry, scale and polish cleanings and emergency care.
Band 2: £59.10
Anything from Band 1 can be done at these appointments, plus extra work such as fillings, root canals and extractions.
Band 3: £256.50
Anything from Band 1 or 2 plus restorations such as crowns, dentures and bridges.
